Project Soar is a non-profit 501(C)(3) organization, registered in the U.S. and in Morocco. The organization was co-founded in 2012 by American social entrepreneurs, Maryam Montague and Chris Redecke, who live in Marrakesh.

The Project Soar Flagship Program operates out of its headquarters in Douar Ladaam, a semi-rural community tewnty minutes outside of Marrakesh in the commune of al Ouidane.  We provide programming to the immediate village, as well as the surrounding villages of Douar Taaonia and Douar Ahmed Bel Haj. After three years of successful programming, Project Soar is preparing to expand to satellite locations, The expansion program is called Project Soar in a Box, which will bring the curriculum, supplies and support of Project Soar to adolescent girls and communities in need throughout Morocco.

Project Soar has worked with more than 250 Moroccan girls, providing over 1000 hours of after-school programming and support. In order to attend Project Soar, girls must take the Project Soar Pledge,  promising to stay in school.

Project Soar’s senior management team is 100% volunteer based. The organization is proud to have created multiple part-time job opportunities for local people who have specialized skills to teach the girls.  Many others have lent support to Project Soar, from individuals to companies, from sports instructors to designers, and from doctors to Peace Corps Volunteers. Together, we are building the Project Soar Nation:  a country without borders and a state of mind -- a place made up of caring individuals who want to make the world a better place for its girls.
